Preparation Time: 30 minutes
Serving Duration: You can refrigerate it for about 14 days, if longer than add a spoon of vinegar while the mix is still in the pan.
What you need:
- 8-10 plums
- 5-6 dates
- 2-4 Dried Red Chilli
- Rock salt/salt
- Cumin Powder
- Grated Ginger according to taste
- Sesame seeds
- Cinnamon sticks or powder
- Jaggery (optional)
What to do:
- Put on a simple pan over stove with medium heat
- Take 8-10 pitted plums and add them to the pan (best part no oil or butter needed)
- Add 5-6 pitted dates and pour in a cup of water
- Cover the mix with a lid for about 5 minutes until the plums become gooey and the dates soften
- Add in the grated ginger, rock salt about a spoon, cumin powder about half a spoon and dried red chillies
- Add few cinnamon sticks – 4 to 5 or a dash of cinnamon powder
- Mix well, try to use a wooden spatula, always recommended for cooking
- Pour in half cup of water if required
- Keep cooking for 10-15 minutes
- As the chutney is in the making, roast the sesame seeds on a heated Tawa
- You are all set, I know its very easy but you have to be careful about the amount of salt and other spices
- When it cools off, pour in a glass container and add some roasted sesame seeds on the top
You can enjoy this chutney with snacks, add it your Bhelpuri or serve it with Chicken nuggets.
